Jill Stry ready to go!

Fourth year of Pharmacy at Ilula!
Our departure date is one week from today and as I write this blog, I am unable to sleep due to excitement.  Our Pharmacy students are incredible - lectures are prepared despite Residency interviews, final paper submissions and the holiday season.  We should be very proud that the College of Pharmacy was able to donate $2000 for the education of our colleagues in Tanzania!
Suggested references are the TZ Treatment Guidelines of 2013 available in PDF, Lexicomp and Sanford apps although Lexi is generally more than adequate.  On the back pages of the Treatment Guidelines is a listing of the "level" of public hospital and the medications deemed essential.  It might be interesting to take a look.   Although Ilula is a regional hospital, not all medications are able to be supplied.  The supply chain of pharmaceuticals and supplies is key to improved health and well-being in TZ.  I hope that we have an opportunity to visit the Medical Stores Distribution Center in Iringa as well as a private Pharmacy that is a second source of medications.
I am incredibly excited to introduce Emily, Sarah and Grace to Frank and his wife Rita.  Rita is a Nursing Leader on the campus with a leadership role in the Nursing School.  Frank is the pharmacy professional on campus; they have 3 lovely children.  And Astrid will be returning as a PGY 1 resident too along with Nick during the second 1/2 of the experience to round out the Pharmacy Team.  Safe travels all and get lots of sleep
